Avery's Garden

We've been talking about it for a few seasons, and this was the year:  Avery and Daddy planted a garden!   They got started by building and waterproofing this raised garden bed.  

 Avery helped paint the garden box.   When it was time to plant, Greg got the ground and soil ready while Avery and I shopped for "baby plants."  

 Avery helped pick out several plants:  strawberries, bell peppers, cherry peppers, squash, zucchini, basil, tomatoes, and even some Gerber daisies and petunias, too.   Greg added several varieties of hot peppers to the mix, including cayenne, chili, Serrano, Tabasco, and jalapeno.

We're about 60 days away from yielding a crop, so for now, Avery's favorite garden chore is watering.   She just loves giving the baby plants lots of drinks.   I can't wait to see what grows, and see if Avery will eat any of it!
