This year, we decided to celebrate Avery's birthday at Disney World. From a princess makeover to dinner in Cinderella's castle and meetings with all her favorite characters, I do have to admit the whole experience was pretty magical! Here are photos from a few of our favorite moments. Happy 4th birthday to my little princess!

Happy 4th Birthday!
It's hard to believe, but Avery turns 4 years old this Saturday. At age 4, Avery still loves Disney Princesses, but like her mom as a little girl, has become wild about Barbie and Scooby Doo. She especially loves dancing and music and will regularly "shake her booty" and belt out the not quite right lyrics to Carly Rae Jepson's "Call Me Maybe." She can spell her name without fail, has a broad vocabulary, and can easily count to "eleventeen." She tells me that she's going to be both an artist and a school teacher when she grows up.
I came across this photos of me (right) just before my fourth birthday. I asked Avery to pose similarly to illustrate my point that she continues to look nothing like me. If it weren't for her Barbie and Scooby Doo infatuation and spot on dirty looks, I'd conclude she was switched at birth!
Here's the birthday girl admiring her Scooby Cake for her Birthday celebration at school. Happy 4th Birthday to my husband's mini-me and my very special little girl!

Christmas and New Year's Recap
The three of us celebrated Christmas together this year as Meme and Pa weren't able to visit us for the holiday. They were too busy ziplining, tequila-tasting, and getting sea kelp body treatments aboard Holland America's Panama Canal cruise. Who knew they were such adventurers? While they were off touring South America, were were having a very Barbie Christmas. Santa could hardly fit this 3-story townhouse down the chimney!
After Christmas, we hit the mountains for our annual New Year's cabin trip. This year the Zach and Kahlan families joined us. I never did get a photo of all the kiddos, but there were five altogether: Maggie (17 mos), Avery (almost 4), Bennett (5), Lucas (7) and Noah (11). The kids all got along great and mostly entertained themselves. Avery got to practice her new Brave bow and arrows set and we all enjoyed cheering on the Packers with some fellow fans!

We had a blast ringing in the new year with good friends and wish everyone a happy and healthy 2013!
