SEWE 2012

This past weekend, we headed to Charleston to attend the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition. Meme and Pa joined us so we rented a historic carriage house for the weekend. We loved staying in a home so rich in character, not-to-mention walking distance from the city market, festival events, and fantastic restaurants.

Since rain was forecast for Sunday, we hit all the outdoor events on Saturday. Watching the dock dog practice rounds was a real highlight, but I wished I had Maggey with me. I think she could have taken these other dogs!

Avery had a front row seat and enjoyed getting splashed by the diving dogs!

Guess "who" got a chance to get up close and personal with this African owl? Ha ha. It wasn't me, it was Greg, but I couldn't resist the pun.

Unfortuneately, Avery woke up on Sunday with a stomach virus so that cut our time at the festival a little short. She spent most of Sunday resting so we were especially glad we had the rental house to enjoy...and the use of a washer and dryer! Despite her illness, we still had a great weekend with great company in one of my favorite cities. I guess we'll just have to go back again next year!

Baby It's Cold Outside

This weekend, Mother Nature reminded us that it's still technically winter by sending us a blast of freezing temps. This is how we roll when it's cold (and sunny) outside.

Celebrating 75 Years of Dr. Seuss

Saturday, Avery and I met friends for a playdate at the mall. After a "chicka-fila" lunch, we took advantage of the kid's club activities celebrating 75 years of Dr. Seuss.

Avery enjoyed the reading of "Red Fish, Blue Fish" and getting to pose for a photo with the Cat in the Hat.

She also liked decorating a tiara and smearing glitter on her face. Oops!

Of course, the real highlight of Avery's day was getting to see and play with her pal, Naomi!
